Helen Richardson

Helen Richardson, a lifelong resident of Newton and active member of the First Baptist Church, died peacefully at her daughter’s home in Alpharetta, Ga., on April 22, 2013.

Helen was born on May 17, 1919, in Newton to Neil and Blanche Wall, the oldest of four sisters, Hilda Thornbrugh, Hazel Dick and Hilma Schroeder.

Helen was married to Charles K. Weston Sr. in 1937 and to Douglas Richardson in 1969. Both have preceded her in death.

Helen was the owner of the Chuck House Restaurant at 211 N. Main for 24 years and retired in 1975.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheri Weeks and husband Curtis of Alpharetta, Ga.; her son, Chuck Weston and wife Patty of Littleton, Colo.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Newton at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013. A visitation is scheduled from 3 to 9 p.m. on April 26, 2013, at Petersen Funeral Home. A committal service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

A memorial has been set up for Helen at First Baptist Church, 200 W. Sixth, Newton, KS 67114.

  1. I have been hearing about Chuck’s mom for almost ten years, and she sounded like an amazing woman! Our heartfelt condolences go out to Chuck, Patty, Cheri, Curtis and the entire family.
