Hendrene Edna Bailey, age 99, passed away April 6, 2019 at Asbury Park Nursing Home in Newton, Kansas. Hendrene was born February 26, 1920 to William and Hattie (Konjer) Rupke in Long Island, Kansas.
She married Lenn Bailey in 1939 and to that union two children were born.
Hendrene is survived by her son, Lenn Bailey, Jr. and wife Jane of Denver, CO, daughter, Angie Hanchett and husband Mike of Newton, KS, brother, Wilbur Rupke and wife Joan of Lexington, NE, sister, Juanita Tracy, of Phillipsburg, KS, grandchildren, Todd Hanchett and wife Annie of Newton, KS, Eric Hanchett and wife Joy of Schuylerville, NY, Susan Bailey of Pittsburg, KS, step-grandchildren, Scott Hefley and wife Melissa of Denver, CO, Lorie Hefley and partner Brian Vering of Denver, CO. and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Hattie, husband, Lenn, eight siblings, and grandson William Bailey.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 11, 2019, 5-7 pm at Petersen Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Friday, April 12, 2019, 1:30 pm at the Norton Cemetery in Norton, KS.
Family suggests memorials to Good Shepard Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
