Herman R. Blann, died on March 4, 2014 at the Newton Medical Center. Herman was born on April 5, 1931 to Nelson and Mary (Parker) Blann in Hampton, Arkansas.
Herman was retired from Continental Airlines for 45 + years. He was a quiet, private man who was a great father and very supportive of his children and grandchildren. He truly wanted what was best for his family. He was very passionate about “anything related to the sky”, airplanes and flying.
He is survived by his three children: Cathie Opala and her husband, Gary; Stan and his wife, Lisa; Philip and his wife, Paula; brother: Dale R. Blann and his wife, Glenna; five grandchildren: Andréa, Elise, Celeste, Claire, and Julie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Nelson and Mary Blann; sisters: Marge Welty, Billie Jean Strong, and Joann Hodges.
Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Wichita, Kansas. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, March 6th, from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Petersen Funeral Home. The family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. to greet friends.
A memorial has been set up for St. Mary’s Catholic School, 101 E. 9th Street, Newton, Kansas 67114.
