Ian P. Sullivan

Ian P. Sullivan 13, died Thursday, November 13, 2014 at his Newton residence.  He was born February 21, 2001 in Wichita, Kansas to Michael and Traci (Wendt) Sullivan. Ian was an 8th grade student at Chisolm Middle School in Newton where he enjoyed social studies and made important connections with his teachers and friends.  Ian enjoyed current events and politics and enjoyed engaging his family and friends in lengthy discussions. He was a loving big brother to Connor and enjoyed spending time with his loving family and many friends.  Ian enjoyed traveling at vacation time and stopping along trips to see the sights.  Two of his favorite places to travel with his family were Washington DC., and to see the ocean.


Ian is survived by his mother Traci Sullivan of Newton; father Michael Sullivan of Wichita; brother Connor Sullivan of Newton; Maternal grandmother Pat Wendt of McPherson; Paternal grandmother Carol Soutar of Glen Burnie, MD; Paternal Grandfather Robert and his wife Kathy Sullivan of Pasadena, MD. Ian is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.


He is preceded in death by his Maternal grandfather Terry Wendt and Great Aunt Vickie Burton.


Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Columbus Avenue Church of Christ in Newton, KS with Pastor Buddy Aldridge presiding. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday evening with the family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home.  Private family interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton, Kansas.


Memorials are suggested to Ian Sullivan family fund in care of Petersen Funeral Home.

  7. I know I’m a little late to the party but… Damn… Ian it’s been lonely without you around, and it’s suprising that you died so early. You didn’t even get what you wanted out of death. You didn’t get any dying wishes fulfilled either, I’m sorry, and I hope you’re in a better place now wherever that is.

  9. Hi Ian i know your gone but i hope you knew i loved you i know it has be about 2 years since your death But i just remember how determined you were, you also so smart and i wish you could of seen how many people cared about you.

  10. Hey Ian, Its been more than four years now. Just thought Id let you know you come to my mind every now and then. People say “they’ll forget me when im gone” but really it just gets a little easier day by day.. but you will always have a place in my heart. I will always remember the boy who sat behind me on the bus, who was so intelligent and funny. I will remember your laugh and sweet smile. You impacted peoples lives with just a short amount of time living, I hope you can see that from where you are now. Forever in my mind and heart-Love Elaina M. ❤️
