Jacob “Jake” Koehn 96, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Moundridge Manor. He was born April 30, 1920 in Isabella, OK to Mano and Eva (Jantz) Koehn. On June 1, 1941 he married Ruby Unruh in Burns, KS and she preceded him in death on September 15, 2008.
Jake was a member of Eden Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Burns, Kansas. He was a farmer and worked at various manufacturing plants in the area during his working years. Jake enjoyed gardening in his retirement years. He was known for his sense of humor and gentle teasing way he has with his friends and family. Jake and his family appreciated the care he received while living at Moundridge Manor for the past few years.
Jake is survived by his daughters: Arlene Koehn of Burns and Nelda (Laurel) Koehn of Farmington, KY; one son Roy (Sharlene) Koehn of Gentry, AR; brothers Harvey Koehn of Moundridge, KS, Walter Koehn of Livingston, CA, Marvin Koehn of Hillsboro, KS and Vernon Koehn of Burns, KS.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruby, brother’s Harlan and Elmer Koehn, sister Alene Koehn and 1 granddaughter Ginger Koehn and one great grandson Jasper Koehn.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Eden Mennonite Church with minister’s Roland Koehn and Lowell Koehn presiding, Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Petersen Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Eden Mennonite Church Cemetery, Rural Burns, Kansas.
