Jacqueline (Jacque) Spangler passed away on Sunday, September 18th at Via Christie-St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas.

 

Jacque was born on February 1, 1952 to Loren and Glenna (Bowman) Duncan in Herrington, Kansas.

 

Jacque attended Newton schools and was a graduate of the Newton High School class of 1970. She attended Emporia State University. Jacque loved the outdoors and especially flower and vegetable gardening. She was a Master Gardener and shared this passion with the Walton Elementary Schools.  Jacque was a very determined and strong person.  Her courageous battle to beat cancer demonstrated these traits. She will be remembered as a selfless, giving and loving person who was deeply devoted to God and her children. Her kindness, ability to see goodness in everyone and her giving nature touched the lives of many.

 

She is survived by her husband: Michael Spangler; children: Matt Spangler and spouse, Devori, and Katrina Spangler: brothers: Terry and Michael Duncan;

step-brothers: Kelly and Rick Portlock; and step-sister: Terri Portlock.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents: Loren Duncan and Glenna Bowman.

 

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Friday, September 23rd at the United Methodist Church of Walton. A public visitation will be held at Petersen Funeral Home on Thursday, September 22nd from 5:00 to 9:00 PM with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 -8:00 PM. A private family burial will be held prior to the service.
