Janice L. Demel

October 25, 2022

Janice L Demel 71, died October 25, 2022 at Kansas Christian Home in
Newton, Kansas. She was born December 26, 1950 in Sanger, California to
Ray Sr. and Mildred (Cornelius) Brown. On April 16, 1983 she married
Vernon Demel at Newton, Kansas.

Janice attended St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Parishes in Newton and
McPherson. She was currently employed as a LPN at Schowalter Villa in
Hesston. Janice has practiced nursing for over 20 years and was a member of
the nurses association.

She greatly enjoyed shopping and garage sales, she also had a love for animals.
Her greatest joy in life was being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She
especially enjoyed keeping up with her grandkids activities.

She is survived by her husband Vernon; son Jeff Scott; daughter Katherine
Hauck; grandchildren Brianna, Trisha, Kaylee, Lane, Andrew, McKayla; great
grandchildren Alexander, Ayanna, Isabela, Christian, Addilline, Veyron,
Mason, Emmitt, and Axel; brothers Ray and George Brown and sister
Kathleen Schmidt. She also is survived by extended family, Anna Mikat.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 3, 2022 at St. Mary
Catholic Church in Newton with The Reverend Andrew Bergkamp,
Celebrant. Recitation of the Rosary will be 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, November
2, 2022 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends until
8:00 p.m. following the Rosary. Private family interment will be in the
Brainerd Cemetery near Whitewater, Kansas.

Memorial may be made to Caring Hands Humane Society and left with
Petersen Funeral Home
