Jeanette (Jen) Nixon , 68 of Newton, Kansas passed away Sunday, July 2 at Newton Medical Center. She was born July 16,1954 in Wolf Point, Montana, the daughter of CL and Lydia (Pankratz) Derksen.
Jen was a knitter, gardener and K-State Football fan. She enjoyed cross stitching, cooking, collecting antiques, artfully arranging things and living life. She always had a dog, most recently Fred, a basset hound.
Jen graduated from Hesston College (74) and Tabor (76) with a Bachelors in Social Work. She then went to California for a few years, then worked in La Junta, Colorado at the VA. It was here she met and married Nick Nixon (Oct 21, 1978) . Then she moved to Grand Junction, Colorado working at the VA and later the Regional Center where she eventually became the head QA of Social work.
In 2008 she retired and moved to Kansas to be closer to extended family. She is survived by her son Brian (Michelle) Nixon.
