Jim Herbers

Jim Herbers, 63, of Newton died on August 3, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born January 28, 1952 to Charlotte and Alvin Herbers in Topeka, Kansas. He grew up in Valley Falls and Holton Kansas.  He graduated from Holton High School and attended Kansas State University earning a Bachelor of Science, Agriculture Degree. Jim married Anita (Jackson) on June 17, 1978 in Independence, Missouri.  They had two children, Eric and Stephanie.  Jim worked as a Combine Service Specialist for AGCO for over 30 years. He is preceded in death by his father, Alvin Herbers; mother, Charlotte Herbers; sister, Marian Hunter; and niece, Rechelle Kersh.  He is survived by wife, Anita Herbers; son, Eric (Ashley) Herbers; daughter, Stephanie Herbers; brothers, Ralph (Charlene) Herbers, Jack Herbers; and sisters, Julia (Dale) Fahrmeier, Mary Susan (Steve) Cole, Lois (Bryan) Sechrist.  A gathering will be held at Petersen Funeral Home from 5-7pm on Wednesday August 10, 2016.  Memorials may be made to Kansas State University Foundation.
