JoAnn Brown was born in Hoisington, Kansas on September 3, 1947. She died at Schowalter Villa in Hesston, Kansas on April 11, 2016. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton, Kansas as well as a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Newton. She was preceded in death by husband, Lloyd Brown; parents Adolph and Mary Gerritzen; a sister Mary Kaiser; and a brother Jerome Gerritzen. She is survived by a sister, Evelyn Hammerschmidt of Hoisington, Kansas; a brother, Robert Gerritzen (Erma) also of Hoisington; and a sister, Teresa Gerritzen of Hays, Kansas as well as four nieces and two nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at the VFW on Thursday, April 14th at 5PM. Viewing will also be held Thursday, April 14 at Petersen Funeral Home from 1PM – 5PM. Mass of Christian Burial will take place in Hoisington, Kansas through the Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Memorials can be given to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
