Juanita “Joy” Newlin, died on February 4, 2022, at NMCHealth in Newton, Kansas.

She was born on August 5, 1942, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Orville and Hazel (Bringham) Hester.

After graduation Joy met and married Joe Young, Jr.. The couple then moved to Wisconsin where they started their family. After many years they divorced and Joy moved back to Kansas to be with her family.

On July 7th, 1991, Joy married Randy Newlin. The couple spent 30 wonderful years of marriage together.

Joy enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafting, and gardening – she was known for her beautiful flowers! She also enjoyed lending a helping hand to others when needed. Joy loved and cherished her family and would always remember them on special occasions.

She worked many different jobs, including physical therapy, bakery, medical offices, and volunteering at food pantries and clothing centers.

Joy’s strong faith in Jesus helped her persevere through all the hardship’s she endured throughout her life. She loved her church family at Newton Christian Church, where she played an active role in volunteering. It was through church that Joy met her dear friend, Hazel Richter, creating a very treasured friendship over the past 7 years.

Joy is survived by her husband, Randy Newlin; children, Kelly (Kellie) Young, Jeanne (Loren) Kunert, Matthew (Michelle) Newlin, Leanne Newlin, John “Crid” Newlin, and Josh (Nichole) Newlin; sisters, Lois (Bob) Drake and Jeanie Flaming; 14 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Brian Scott Young; brother, Rick Hester; and sister, Fern Vickors.

Joy will be missed by all who loved her.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Newton Christian Church, 210 Southport Drive in Newton.

Memorial contributions in Joy’s name may be made to the Newton Christian Church.
