Karen Jones, 85, died January 29, 2022 at Pine Village in Moundridge Kansas.  She was born on March 5, 1938 in Hutchinson, Kansas,   Her parents were A.E. (Earl) Jones and Helen Edith (Phillips) Jones.

Karen attended Mitchell Grade School, graduated from Hutchinson High School, received her Bachelors of Science degree from Bethany Nazarene College (SNU), in Bethany Oklahoma, and a Master’s Degree from Kansas State University.

She taught Middle School, Home Economics in Newton, Kansas for thirty five years at Chisholm Middle School.  She was active in the National, State, and local Home Economic Organizations; and the Kansas National Educational Association.

Karen enjoyed cooking, sewing, doing receptions, preparing meals for various groups at her church, and cheering the KSU Wildcats.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Leonard Earl Jones, Dr. Richard (Helen Marie) Jones, and sister Helen Louise (Arlo) Newell.

Karen is survived by her sister Barbara Jean Jones of Newton, and her extended family Jerry and Joanne Supernois of Newton, Mark and Holly Supernois of Wichita, Lisa (Dan) Timmons of Newton, Kristi Bueno of Newton, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1000 North Main, Newton, Kansas at 10:30 a.m., Friday February 11, 2022.   Visitation will be Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Petersen Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  In Lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Karen may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene or Pine Village, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
