Kenneth F Hymer,91,passed away peacefully on February 17, 2024. Ken was born on February 20, 1932 in Crawford, Nebraska to Bernice and Amos Hymer. He attended Chadron High School. 

After moving to Newton, Kansas, Mr Hymer owned and operated Larry’s Drive Inn and later owned This and That, a candle and gift shop.  He also worked as an assistant manager at TG&Y in Wichita, Kansas.

Ken was an avid coin dealer since his youth and sold coins all over the United States and some foreign countries.  In March 2006 he was featured in an article in the World Coin News.  He discovered a reverse doubled-die that was restricted to the virtual dead center of the design on a 1965 Canadian 1-cent piece.

On September 4, 1988 he married Bonita Ellington and resided in Wichita until his death.

He is survived by his wife, Bonita; children, Susan Glasgow, Jerry (Martha) Hymer, Kimberly Hymer, Connie (Todd) Myers; 8 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 5:00 - 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Petersen Family Funeral Home. Private family internment has been planned.

Memorial contributions can be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and left in care of Petersen Family Funeral Home.
