Kevin W. Schmidt

Kevin W. Schmidt 54, died Saturday December 9, 2017 at Ft. Worth, Texas following a struggle with cancer.

He was born October 22, 1963 in Newton, Kansas to Dennis and Eunice (Alexander).

He attended Meridian Baptist Church in Newton, Kansas

Kevin enjoyed fishing and many memories were made fishing with his daughter near the first street bridge on sand creek in Newton.  He had a love of cooking and his friends and family looked forward to special meals together.  Racing, NASCAR and NHRA were dear to his heart. He followed both Dale and Dale Jr in their racing careers. Spending time with his family and friends was a priority to Kevin.

He is survived by his daughter Abby Friesen and her children Caleb and Caden all of Newton, KS; mother Eunice Schmidt of Newton, KS; brothers Mark Schmidt of Erie, CO; Greg Schmidt of Halstead, KS and Jim Schmidt of Newton, KS.

He is preceded by his beloved father Dennis.

A celebration of Kevin’s life will be Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Meridian Baptist Church in Newton with Pastor Scott Kliewer presiding.  Private family interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery Newton, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to the Kevin Schmidt Family Fund in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
