Kimberley “Kim” Durbin, 67, died Monday March 25th, 2024, at Newton Medical Center in Newton Kansas. She was born March 13th, 1957, in Newton, Kansas to Merle “Bill” and Connie (Poole) Nelson. On September 29th, 2001, she married Dan Durbin, and he survives the home.
Kim worked for the Newton Housing Authority for nearly 20 years before retiring in March of 2023. She was a member of the St. Luke Presbyterian Church in Newton and attended New Spring Church in Wichita.
Kim was an avid Gardner and could often be found tending her many flower beds around the house. Two of her favorite flowers were Geraniums and Carnations. She also enjoyed cooking and sewing. Her greatest joy was being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She followed her grandkids sports and attended as many games as she could to support them.
She is survived by her husband, Dan of the home; son Jeremy (Ginger) Smith; daughter Jennie (Matt) Williams; stepsons Grant and Shea (Libby) Durbin; brother Kyle (Nikki) Nelson and sister Kelley Nelson. She is also survived by her grandchildren.
Kim is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Service will be 10AM Monday, April 1st, 2024, at Peterson Funeral Home Chapel in Newton, Kansas with Larry Sadowski officiating. Visitation will be from 1PM to 5PM, with family present from 3PM to 5M Sunday, March 31st, 2024.
Memorials may be made to Dyck Arboretum of the Plains and left with Peterson Funeral Home.
