Leroy J. Wall 70, died Monday, March 9, 2015 at Newton Medical Center.  He was born September 16, 1944 in Newton, Kansas to John A. and Elma (Klaassen) Wall.  On March 25, 1967 he married Helen Harms at First Mennonite Church in Aberdeen, ID and she survived of the home. Leroy was a graduate of Bethel College in North Newton, KS, and he served his country in the United States Army.  Leroy was a locomotive engineer for the Santa Fe Railroad retiring in 2006 after nearly 44 years. He was a member of the Grace Community Church in Newton where he was active in the Jail ministry at the Church.  He enjoyed sharing his faith and the gospel with others and raising them up. He also enjoyed bible study and developing his faith in God.  Leroy looked forward to coffee time with his friends and he enjoyed reading, studying maps and yard work.

 

Leroy is survived by his wife Helen of the home; son David Wall of Missoula, MT:           daughter Erin Wall of Kodiak, AK; sisters Deanna and Eldean Ratzlaff of Mountain Lake, MN, and Louise Ledere of Beach Park IL.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents

 

A celebration of Leroy’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Grace Community Church in Newton, Kansas with Pastor’s David Reimer and Steve Friesen presiding.  Private family inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery Newton. Visitation will be 5 to 9 Wed the 18th with family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home

 

Memorials are suggested to Grace Community Church Jail Ministry in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
