Life Sketch for Linda Ediger Guhr

 

Linda Guhr, 91, was born on September 18, 1925 in Rural Inman, Kansas to Solomon and Agnes (Friesen) Ediger.  She was one of eight children.

 

Linda attended and graduated from Inman High School in 1944. After graduation, she attended Bethel College for one year and then entered into nursing school.  During this time she met Samuel Guhr and they were married in December of 1956.  She was required to discontinue her education in Nursing School because students who were married were not allowed into school at that time.  Linda and Sam Guhr were married 52 years until his death in January of 1999. She later married Sam Ediger in 2002. He preceded her in death.

 

Linda became and worked as a CNA/Nurse Aide at Bethel Deaconess Hospital.   Sam and Linda were Charter Members of the Faith Mennonite Church and were very active in it. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was involved in varied church organizations and mission efforts. She enjoyed yard work, walking and reading.

 

She is survived by a son: Jim Guhr and wife, Christy; a daughter:  Lynette and husband, Alan Peters, four granddaughters: Kate, Joy, Amy, and Traci; six great grandchildren: Evan, Lauren, Bella Emmitt, Dylan, and Lilly; her sister: Esther Nickel, and several nieces and nephews, and four stepchildren. She was preceded in death by her two husbands: Samuel Guhr and Sam Ediger; parents: Solomon and Agnes Ediger; son: Joe Guhr.

 

Memorial Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 25th, at Faith Mennonite Church. A graveside committal will be held at Restlawn Gardens of Memory at 10:00 a.m., prior to the Memorial Service. A public visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Friday, March 24th, at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
