Linda K. Budde

d. June 5, 2015

Linda Kay Budde, 66, passed away at her home on June 5th, 2015.  Born October 3, 1948 to Mildred and Cecil Egy.  Linda graduated from Newton High School in 1966, where she and Bill were classmates. They married April 7, 1968. Together they had three children, Michelle, Melinda and Carrie. They lived on a farm, where they raised their family. There wasn’t anything on the farm Linda couldn’t do, she took care of hogs, delivered pigs & puppies, drove the trucks, and worked right alongside Bill.  He shared there were nights after working all day, Linda would stay up all night making dresses for her daughters so they would have new dresses for special occasions.  She attended cosmetology school after high school, and used that experience with her girls. She was a devoted and loving mother which is undeniably obvious in so many memories shared by her daughters.  She spent countless hours hauling the girls back and forth to town for ball practice and games. They remember her volunteering for their 4-H and FFA clubs. She served as 4-H Food Stand Coordinator, and countless other school and community events. She worked Carrie’s FFA concession stand so she could go to prom, and she got Melinda through her demolition derby days running the food stand! When the girls were teenagers, she was known for trips to the emergency room with their friends, somebody was always doing something crazy! Linda was famous for her cooking, one especially popular dish, pork chops! She had a catering business that brought her great joy, catering to the railroad for many years. The combination of her love for family and food can be found in her grandchildren’s declaration that, “no one can make it as good as Grandma”.  Their mothers promise that the recipe is exactly the same, but it’s still just not as good as Grandma’s.  Grandma shared her passions with her grandkids, making popcorn balls, or making pork chops for auction night at the fair.  The grandkids will remember grandma snuggling with them, building legos, bird watching, and playing cards.  Linda leaves a legacy of love and compassion with her family, and many others. Linda was a member of Walton United Methodist Church. She is predeceased by her parents.  She is survived by husband, Bill Budde; daughters, Michelle (James) Mosiman, Melinda Budde, and Carrie (Chris) White; grandchildren, Erin Mosiman, Justin Mosiman, Cody White, Courtney White, Jacob Peterson; great granddaughter, Brooklyn Boegel; brother, Dale Egy; sisters, Phyllis Wood, and Vada Strattan, many nieces and nephews.  A gathering will be held on Tuesday June 9, 2015 at Petersen Funeral Home from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:30-8:00.  Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on June 10, 2015 at First Church of The Nazarene in Newton. Immediately following the memorial service the family invites you to their farm for an afternoon of food and fellowship, casual attire welcomed. Memorials may be made to any of the following organizations; Harvey County 4-H Developments, Walton United Methodist Church, or Walton Volunteer Fire Department.
