Loyal Maurice Edmonston

Loyal Maurice Edmonston, age 80, passed away in Wichita, Kansas on December 1, 2023.   Loyal was born to Granville and Violet Edmonston in Ashland, Kansas on January 17, 1943. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Connie in March 2018 after 53 years of marriage and a long bout with cancer. She was his best friend and he missed her dearly and never got over her death.

He was a graduate of Sedgwick High School in 1961 and California State University, Fullerton in 1973. Loyal married Connie McCart in Wichita, KS in 1965. The couple was blessed with 3 daughters: Daina Bailey (Todd) of Wichita, Jamie Giffin (Jerrod) of Sedgwick and Mindy Edmonston of Wichita. They also have 5 wonderful grandchildren: Gage, Cooper, Regan, Brody and Carly.

Loyal and Connie made a home in many cities during their 53 years together, including Belton, MO, Grandview, MO, Wichita, KS, San Bernardino, CA, Santa Ana, CA, LaHabra, CA, Clearwater, KS, and Guymon, OK. Loyal served in the United States Air Force for 52 months in Missouri. Thailand and San Bernardino, CA receiving an Honorable Discharge in July 1970. In 1980 they made their last move to Sedgwick, KS where they built a home together. Loyal worked for Wescon Products Company for 20 years and retired in 2005 as their Controller.

Loyal served on the Sedgwick School Board and helped start the Sedgwick Recreation Commission which he served on from 1981 to 1989. He was a handyman and carpenter. He and Connie remodeled houses for their daughters and rentals they owned. They built houses in Clearwater, KS, Guymon, OK and Sedgwick and did a lot of work on them. He enjoyed reading and building furniture for his parents and daughters. He also collected antique cast iron banks, antique bottles and antique ink wells.

Graveside memorial service date is pending  and he will be buried next to his wife in Hillside Cemetery Sedgwick, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lillian Tear Library in Sedgwick and left in care of Petersen Family Funeral Home.
