Mable Nicodemus

Mable Nicodemus 93, died Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Newton Medical Center.  She was born September 5, 1920 in Newton, Kansas to Gilbert and Chloe (Meiers) Taylor.  On April 21, 1940 she married Don “Nick” Nicodemus in Lindsborg, Kansas and he preceded her in death on October 5, 1994.  Mable was a long time active member of Salem United Methodist Church in Newton.  She enjoyed crocheting and playing cards and was a member of the Circle 8 square and round dance club.  She enjoyed the friends she made during square dances. Mable was an avid KU basketball fan and enjoyed following the team.  She also looked forward to spending time with her loving family and many friends.

 

 

Mable is survived by her daughter Debbie Grob of Newton, KS; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren also survive.

 

 

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and two daughters Bonnie Jean Conyers and Mary Lou Abrahams; brother Merrill Taylor and sister Marie Taylor McDonald.

 

 

Funeral service will be2:00 p.m., Thursday, April  17, 2014  at Salem United Methodist Church in Newton, Kansas with Pastor Nancy Crowl presiding.  Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday with the family greeting friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery Newton, Kansas.

 

Memorials are suggested to Salem United Methodist Church or Circle 8 square dance club in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
