Marion Harper, 84, died at his home on Monday, December 10, 2018 in Newton.

Marion was born on July 31, 1934 in Newton, Kansas to Everett and Pearl (Brooks) Harper.

Marion married Sue Leffingwell in Newton, Kansas on December 27, 1957. They were married for sixty one years prior to his death.

Marion was very mechanical and enjoyed working with tools. He could “Rig Up” about anything and make it work. He was an Amateur Radio Operator and enjoyed using the Morse Code. Marion was retired from Kansas Gas and Electric Company which he served for many years.

He is survived by his wife: Sue; beloved best friend: Cedar; children: Kristy and Jeff Nattier, Kelli and Brian Schulte; grandchildren: Sarah and Dustin (Kari) Nattier, Garrett, Mallory, Brianna and Jesse Schulte.

He was preceded in death by his son: Kurt Harper; parents: Everett and Pearl Harper; sister: Janet Lingnau.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 13th at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel. Following the service, a private family burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Marion will be carried to his final resting place in his 1950 Dodge Power Wagon. There will not be a public visitation.
