Martin Luna, 92, of Valley Center passed away January 2, 2016. He was born to Miguel and Anastasia Luna on January 30, 1923 in El Paso, Texas. On November 15, 1947 Martin married Reda (Halcomb). Together they had three sons, Ed, Vincent and Miguel; and four daughters Anita, Amelia, Loretta and Elizabeth. Martin served in the Army, working in Alaska on the railroad for part of his tour. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Woodcarving was a hobby he enjoyed, making benches for each of his grandchildren. Martin was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton, Kansas. He was devoted to his church and had the desire to see it grow, which moved him to serve as an original board member on the Building Committee in 1948, and served as an Honorary Chairman for the current Legacy of Faith Capital Campaign. He is preceded in death by his parents, Miguel & Anastasia Luna; wife, Reda Luna; infant son, Miguel Luna; brothers, Rito Luna, Longino Luna, and Victor Luna; and sister Michaela Luna. He is survived by sons, Ed Luna, Vincent Luna; daughters Anita Victory, Amelia Luna, Loretta Luna, Elizabeth Luna; 8 grandchildren ; 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Anita Luna and Manuela Chavez;. Visitation and Rosary will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Newton on Tuesday January 5, 2016. Visitation will be open from 5-8 pm, and Rosary Service will begin at 6:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe 415 S Ash St, Newton, KS 67114 on Wednesday January 6, 2016 at 10 am. Memorial Suggestion Our Lady of Guadalupe Legacy of Faith Capital Campaign.
