Newton

Mary A. Bell, a beacon of love and kindness, peacefully passed away on the morning of October12, 2024, at the Kansas Christian Home. She left this world surrounded by those who cherished her dearly, embodying a spirit that will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.

Born on October 25, 1946 in Marion, Kansas, Mary was a vibrant soul known for her loving, caring, responsible, and fun personality. Growing up, she attended Lincolnville Grade School and Centre High School, where she showcased her talents by taking on the role of Helen Keller in a school performance, playing the clarinet in the band, and cheering for her classmates. After graduation, she pursued her passion for nutrition and well-being by taking online training in Florida to become a licensed Dietitian.

Mary best represented the joys of life through her hobbies and interests. She found fulfillment in sewing, gardening, cooking, and styling hair, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and embracing her role as a grandmother. Mary’s love was palpable in every meal she prepared, every flower she nurtured, and every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Richard Bell, with whom she celebrated a marriage filled with devotion since April 24, 1966. Mary is also survived by her daughter, Tressa (Trent) Machmer; her beloved sisters, Darlene Garnowsky, Pauline (John) Bailey, Roberta (Mark) Stuchlik, Janet (Mike) Roesti, and Michelle (Merle) Flaming; and her brother, Ron (Terri) Winter. Mary cherished her grandchildren, Brody (Jenna) Machmer, Brooke (Freddy) Negrete, Kendra Stark (Tyler), and Kyle Stark, along with four great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. She held a special place in her heart for her many nieces and nephews, who will remember her with fondness and gratitude.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Alberta Winter, her beloved daughter, Tammy Marie Stark, and her brother, Bob Winter. As we reflect on Mary’s life, we are reminded of her unwavering strength and the indelible mark she left on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
