Mary Jane Pickering

Mary Jane Pickering, 68, passed away Monday November 7, 2022 at her family home in Valley Center.  She was born February 7, 1954 in Halstead, Kansas to Sharmen and Delores (Powell) Carter. She was married to Harvey Pickering who preceded her in death.

Mary Jane was a member of the Riverview Baptist Church. She was a retired Dialysis Nurse for DaVita working in New Mexico and Kansas for 27 years.  She is survived by her son Thomas Hershberger and his wife Rosemary;  son Patrick Miller and his wife Alexis; daughter Kimberly Lovato and her husband Michael; brothers Sharmen (Beth), Jim (Kay), and Dennis (Patti) Carter. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents; Husband Harvey Pickering; son R. Shane Parker; and grandson Thomas Bayli Hershberger.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton with Deacon Mike Ferrel officiating. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday evening at Petersen Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Burrton City Cemetery, Burrton, Kansas.

Memorials may be made to Interim Hospice or Catholic Charities Adult Day Program and left with Petersen Funeral Home.

Mama I miss you so much but I see signs every day that you’re with me I’m the luckiest girl ever to have you as my mom I love you and I miss you so much and I hope you Shane dad and Bayli are having the best time ever in heaven laughing at us on the silly things we do until we meet again Mama love always your little girl
