Mary O Burris 81, died Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Asbury Park in Newton, Kansas. She was born February 15, 1932 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to James and Martha (Givens) Bartley. On December 31, 1963 she married Earl Burris in Valley Center, Kansas and he preceded her in death. Mary was a member of the Columbus Avenue Church of Christ in Newton, Kansas. She was retired from Cessna Aircraft in the engineering records department. Mary was a friendly person and enjoyed spending time with her many friends. She especially looked forward to visits from her family. She was very appreciative of all the help she had received in the last few months of her life from those close to her.
She is survived by one son, Steven Morris of Sacramento, California; step son Johnny Burris and his wife Judy of Wichita, Kansas; daughter Sandra Mason and her husband David of Newton, Kansas; step daughter Patricia Burris and her husband Pete Brown of Trussville, Alabama ; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents and sisters.
A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday January 29, 2014 at Restlawn Gardens of Memory with Pastor Buddy Aldridge presiding. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Columbus Avenue Church of Christ.

My thoughts and prayers are with Mary’s family at this time. I first met Mary at Learjet in the 70’s. She was such a nice lady.
I didn’t have a chance to see you that “one last time” before you left but I know you were received in Heaven by all that loved you. Tell Mom how much she is missed here on earth as well. You are in a wonderful place but will be missed here on earth. Love you Aunt Mary.
