Myrtle Harrietta (Theander) Venso

Myrtle Harrietta (Theander) Venso was born on July 5, 1914, and entered eternal rest on September 22, 2014. She was the middle child of Emma (Gutsch) and Carl Theander and was born in Lincolnville, Kansas.  The family moved to Ashland Kansas, and spent several years before moving to Marion County Kansas.  On March 29, 1936, she married Neil Venso in Newton, where they raised their family.  Myrtle worked for the Spangler Care Home, Bethel Deaconess Care Home and Friendly Acres (Asbury Park).  She was a faithful member of the Church of God, E.U.B., and Salem United Methodist Church, a member of Women’s Circle, belonged to the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks Auxiliary, and volunteered for the American Red Cross.  She celebrated her 100th birthday on July 5th , 2014.  She was preceded in Death by her husband Neil Venso, parents, and 2 brothers.  She is survived by her 2 daughters, Virginia (Joe) Soyez, Marjorie (Donald) Keasling, 1 son , Wayne (Brenda) Venso, 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren, and many friends and relatives.  Everyone that knew Myrtle would agree that she was not stubborn, but very strong willed and she will be missed.  Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 29 at 10 am at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.  A memorial has been established with Good Shepherd Hospice through Petersen Family Funeral Home.
