Nola Joyce Dent, 95, died January 26, 2025 at Presbyterian Manor in Newton, Kansas. She was born May 4, 1929 in Halstead, Kansas to Cornelius C. and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Koehn. On April 22, 1961, she married Eugene W. Dent.
Joyce was a homemaker, having raised 8 children. She loved cooking, baking, and caring for her extended family, often rising before the sun to prepare Sunday morning brunch. She was an avid reader and student of the Bible, having read it 11 times. Joyce was a gifted writer and spent the last several years composing beautiful poetry. She enjoyed an active lifestyle.
Joyce is survived by sons Roger (Susan) Dent of Tacoma WA, Dean (Phyl) Dent of McPherson KS, daughters Aimee Metzler, Melanie Hanna, Jo Ann Dent, and Julie Seybert (Charlie) all of Newton, daughter-in-law Marla Dent of Halstead, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Cornelia Cotton, Vivian Roberts, Lucille Jantz, Vada Crain, brother Dale A. Koehn, husband Gene Dent, sons Steven Dent and Kenny Dent, granddaughter Stephanie Joy Ragon, sons-in-law Bobby Joe Carothers and Tom Metzler, and daughter-in-law Bonnie Dent.
Cremation has taken place and a family service is planned for a later date.
