Opal G. Reddick

Opal G. Reddick, 89, died on Nov. 27, 2013, at Kansas Christian Home surrounded by her loving family.She was born on April 11, 1924, to Harvey and Lottie (Overhall) Zook in Newton.She married Charles A. Reddick on April 27, 1946, in Wichita. He died on Jan. 9, 1978.Opal was retired from USD 373 in 1989. She was a member of the Meridian Baptist Church of Newton but attended the First Nazarene Church of Newton.She is survived by two sisters: Luella Haines of Huntington, Ind., and Eloise Hoch of North Manchester, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Lottie Zook; brother, Robert Zook; and sister, Evelyn Schmidt.Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, and the family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. A committal will be at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in rural Newton following the service.A memorial has been set up for the Kansas Christian Home, 1035 S.E.
