Patricia Vicin

Patricia Vicin,78, of Wichita, Kansas passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at St. Teresa Hospital in Wichita. She was born Dec. 18, 1937 in New Straightsville, Ohio to Clarence Alonzo and Florence (Jones) Lawson. They preceded her in death. On May 24^th, 1958, she married Alex Vicin at the Fort Knox, Kentucky base chapel and remained happily married for 51 years until Alex’s passing in 2009. She started as a great house wife but began her career in patient accounting for the Axtell Christian hospital in Newton in 1974. The hospital then transitioned to what is now the Newton Medical Center. She retired after 35 years of service in 2009. She was a special person with many great friends and loved crochet, cross words and was an avid reader all her adult life. Survivors include her son, Rob and Tammy Vicin of Wichita, granddaughters Shaunna (Hill) Vicin, Megan Vicin, Ashley Vicin, grandsons, Logan Vicn and Tyler Vicin, great grandson Jax Hill, brothers Vic Lawson and Terry Lawson and sister, Joy Lawson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tanya (Lane) Vicin and granddaughter Heather Ann Lane. Memorial Service will be at 2pm July 12^th at Petersen Funeral Home, with Pastor Gary Bell of the First Christian Church in Newton officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton immediately following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s hospital in care of the Petersen Funeral Home.
