Patrick “Gordy” Torres 60, died April 27, 2023 at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia, Illinois. He was born July 1, 1962 in Newton, Kansas to Felix and Kathleen (Martinez) Torres. His parents preceded him in death.
On October 6, 2018 he married Leslie Marshno at Topeka, Kansas and she survives of the home.
Patrick was active in the Mexican-American Softball Tournament in Newton and played catcher for several years. He had a love of all sports and could often be found in his favorite chair cheering on his teams, especially his beloved Kansas City Chiefs. One of Patrick’s other favorite past times was spending time at is favorite casinos. He was a lover of music and especially enjoyed old school live concerts. He loved to share time with his kids at various venues and fairs enjoying music. His family was very important to him and he looked forward to spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids and following their activities.
He is survived by his wife Leslie of the home; sons Felix Torres and Eliseo (Miranda) Torres; daughter Ana Alicia Torres (Andrew Jaso); brothers Vincent “Barney” Torres; Pedro “PeeWee” Torres and Alex Torres; sisters Cecilia “Nini” Llamas; Victoria “Vicky” Torres and Rosalinde “Rosie” Torres. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 5, 2023 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton with The Reverend Jorge Lopez presiding. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 6:00 p.m., Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton and the family will receive friends at the church following Rosary. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery
Memorials may be made in Patricks memory to Newton Mexican American Athletic Club and left in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
