Ralph A. Weerts 94, died Sunday, October 22, 2023, at NMC Health in Newton. He was born January 17, 1929, in Fairmont, Minnesota to Arnold and Margaret (Ludeman) Weerts. On July 29, 1952, he married Norma F. Olson in South Dakota, and she survives of the home.

Ralph served his country in the United States Navy where he earned the rank of 3rd class PO. He was a longtime active member of the First United Methodist Church in Newton. He served his church faithfully on many committees and helped with many events through the years. Ralph was a retired electrician working in the Newton area.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #2; the former VFW Post #971; Eagles Aerie No.2516 and the 40/8 Voiture Local 1518.

One of Ralphs greatest joys was being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He is survived by his wife Norma; daughters Martha Kasper and Cindy Casey; son Randy Weerts; brother James Weerts; Ralph is also survived by 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and daughters Patricia and Kimberly. Sisters Althea Kuiper, Donna Wies, brother Donald Weerts and son-in-law James (Jim) Casey.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 27, 2023, at First United Methodist Church in Newton with Pastor Kim Andrews officiating. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Petersen Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m., to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton with Navy Honors

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church and left with Petersen Funeral Home.
