Life Sketch Ray A. Kerstetter

Ray Kerstetter, 88, died on February 19, 2017 at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

Ray was born on March 12, 1928 to Ray and Alice (Goldbeck) Kerstetter in Woods County, Oklahoma. He grew up on a farm and enjoyed the outdoors.  He enjoyed the Ministry, farming, flying and traveling to south Texas as snowbirds.

 Ray married Sara Blythe on June 11, 1950 and they were married for sixty three years until her passing on April 30, 2014.

Ray was a retired pastor for the Christian Church. He was a graduate of Manhattan Christian College and served in various churches throughout Kansas and Nebraska until his retirement in 1993.  Ray had many different side careers. Some of them were: Boys Scout Executive, Social Services Director, Christian Hills Church Camp Manager, owner of a laundromat, sheep farmer.

He is survived by his children: daughter-in-law Carolyn Kerstetter, Independence, Daniel (Glenda) Kerstetter, Leon, Terri (Riley) Carrier, Tarpon Springs FL, Tim (Lynda) Kerstetter, Augusta; thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Sara Catherine Kerstetter; parents: Ray and Alice Kerstetter; brothers: Glen and Dale Kerstetter; sister: Patricia Edwards; son: Bruce Kerstetter, granddaughter: Lynnette Dapron.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 27th, at the First Christian Church of Newton.  A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, February 26th at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, Kansas. Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
