Richard Lee Swartzendruber

Richard Lee Swartzendruber, 85, died on September 17, 2022, at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.

 

He was born on April 20, 1937, in St. John’s, Michigan, the son of George and Grace (Snyder) Swartzendruber.

 

On July 11, 1964, Richard was united in marriage to Naomi Everson. The couple celebrated 58 years of marriage this year.

 

Richard was always a car enthusiast and as a result, his career centered mostly around working on or with cars.  He bought and sold cars, did mechanical work, but enjoyed auto body work the most.  Richard and Naomi served with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Papua New Guinea for six years where his role was working on cars.  The last period of his career included working at B&C Specialty Products in Newton building starters for aircraft.

 

Richard was preceded in death by his son George, brothers Gene, Wayne and Bob, and parents George and Grace.

 

He is survived by his wife Naomi, son David & wife Sara (Vollrath); grandson, George & wife Mary (Koszalka); granddaughter, Sharea and husband Jose Nepius; grandson, Samuel; granddaughter, Grace; sister, Evelyn Troyer; brother, Larry Swartzendruber; and sister, Virginia Swartzendruber.

 

A graveside service was held on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Eastlawn Cemetery in Hesston, Kansas.
