Rita M. Nelson Myers

Rita M. Myers, age 88, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Newton Medical Center. Rita was born April 25, 1929 in Lincoln, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur and Laura (Montgomery) Nelson.

After graduating high school, she married Lester L. Myers on June 7, 1947 in Lincoln, KS. Rita worked at Barnard State Bank for 36 years until her retirement in 1991. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Barnard, KS until moving to Newton 5 years ago, and later changed her membership to the First Baptist Church in Newton.

Rita is survived by her two sons; Jim Myers and wife Barb of Newton, Steve Myers and wife Janet of Nashville, TN, grandchildren; Tonya, Kimberly, Tyra, Keegan, Ian, and 3 great-grandchildren; Lauren, Max, and Emma.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Lester, her parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 28th, from 5:30pm to 8:00pm with family present from 6-8 pm. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, November 29th, 11:00am at the First Baptist Church of Barnard, Kansas, with Pastors Chip Bungard and Dennis Finch presiding. Interment will follow at the Milo Cemetery in Barnard.
