Roger W Springsted

Roger W. Springsted 83 died February 23, 2025, at Kidron Bethel Healthcare in North Newton, Kansas. He was born July 3, 1941, in Leavenworth, Kansas to Wade and Thais (Reaksecker) Springsted. On July 29, 1977, he married Nancy Girard and she survives of the home. 

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newton.

Roger graduated from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma with both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree. He also attended Baylor School of Mortuary Science in Texas. Roger taught school in the Wichita School System for most of his working career. 

Roger had a sharp sense of humor and intelligence. He loved teaching, being husband and dad. He could often be found reading trains magazine and learning about various locomotives and trains which he loved. 

He is survived by his wife Nancy of the home; stepson: Ryan Robinson; daughters: Robyn (Michael) Brewster and Jodie (Jason) Menges; brother: Paul (Linda) Springsted and one grandson Jayke Menges. Roger is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Kay Ilene (Haskins) Springsted.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton with Pastor Chip Bungard presiding. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday morning both at Petersen Funeral Home. 

Burial will follow in Wichita and Resthaven Cemetery on West Kellogg and 119th street West.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or Samaritan’s purse and left in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
