Ronnie Lee Wooderson

d. February 3, 2017

Ronnie Lee Wooderson, 56, of Conroe, Texas, entered rest on February 3, 2017 at his home.

Ronnie was born on June 28, 1960 in Caldwell, Kansas to Jack and Janice Wooderson. He attended school in Newton, Kansas where he graduated from Newton High School in 1978. Ronnie was very active in golf during his time at Newton High. His proudest memory was hitting a hole in one at the Newton Country Club #6 hole on his first day of golf practice his freshman year.

Following high school, Ronnie followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the construction industry. His time in the industry took him all over the country and made him great friends. He worked for various companies throughout his time including Gilbert/Kiewit and Smith & Company. He was an adventurer and loved to try new things, including living in Puerto Rico for 8 years while working for the Bradbury Company.

Ronnie met Pamela Cunningham in 1979 when working with his father in Caney, Kansas. They were married on November 14, 1980 and later divorced. On April 27, 1981, they welcomed Ronnie’s only child, his pride and joy, Michelle Lee Wooderson in Newton, Kansas.

While working for Kiewit in Wyoming, Ronnie met and fell in love with Yvonne Lucero. After dating for many years, they were married in May 1999 in Rawlins, Wyoming. They remained married until her death on July 20, 2005.

The latter years of Ronnie’s career with Kiewit were spent in Florida. It was there that he met and married Helena Bustos on June 3, 2007. They later divorced.

In 2011, Ronnie moved to Conroe, Texas to be closer to his parents, daughter and grandchildren. He remained an avid golfer who loved golfing with his father and teaching the game to his daughter.  He loved being PiPa to Tripp and Jackson. He enjoyed playing outside with them and made it a point to be at as many of their sporting events as possible. PiPa greatly loved cheering them on and giving them a hard time. In addition to golf and family, he enjoyed rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas Jayhawks.

Ronnie is survived by his parents, Jack and Janice Wooderson of Conroe, Texas; brother Rick Wooderson and wife, Jo, of Hutchinson, Kansas; brother Randy Wooderson and wife, Jeri, of Wichita, Kansas; daughter Michelle DeGiusti, her husband Marc, and grandson’s Marco (Tripp) and Jackson of Katy, Texas; many nieces, a nephew and great nieces and nephews.
