Ruby Shoemaker Brown, 71, died March 15, 2021, in North Newton, Kansas
She was born September, 26, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Orval and Verna (Springer) Shoemaker. Ruby attended Hesston Academy, Hesston College, and Goshen College where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Speach and Drama. Subsequently, she received a Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Kansas, and later was certified as a LCSW.
On July 9, 1983 Ruby married Andy Brown as members of New Creation Fellowship Church.
Ruby valued spiritual studies, friendships, and family, keeping touch with aunts, uncles and countless cousins.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Andy, daughter Hannah Nave, and grandson Shawn.
She was preceded in death by her parents Orval and Verna Shoemaker.
A private service will take place at Eastlawn Cemetery near Zimmerdale.
Memorials may be considered for New Creation Preschool or Harry Hynes Hospice in Care of Petersen Funeral Home 215 N. Main, Newton, Kansas 67114.
