Ruth Luree Swedberg went to her eternal home on Saturday, April 28, 2018.

She was born on January 2, 1926 at home in Gretna, Nebraska. She grew up on a farm near
Gretna and moved later to a farm north of Kearney, Nebraska. Luree attended grade school in a
country school and graduated from Kearney High School.

After high school, she worked at Bell Telephone and married Melvin Swedberg on June 21 ,
1946. She had two children and loved camping, sewing, oil painting, canning and reading. The
family joined the Berean Fundamental Church in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Luree was an active
member teaching Sunday school, VBS, was a camp counselor, and was the missionary
treasurer. She and Melvin had 58 years together.

Luree was a homemaker first but worked in the First National Bank at Crawford, Nebraska. She
received her LPN license and worked for a doctor in Gering. Nebraska.

She is preceded in death by her husband Melvin, her parents and three brothers.

She is survived by her son, Randy Swedberg, and his wife, Debbie, of Kingman, KS.: her daughter,

Zelly Walker-Rees, and her husband, Ralph, of Newton; four grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren: her sister Gloria Stone of Timnath, Colorado and brother, Jack Frederick of
Imperial, Nebraska.

Visitation will be at Peterson Family Funeral Home from 5:00-9:00 pm. on Thursday, May 3rd, with family present from 7:30-9:00. Funeral services will be held at the Meridian Baptist Church in Newton at 10:00 am on May 4th. Burial will be at 2:00 pm at the VA Cemetery in Winfield, KS. Memorials may be given to Meridian Baptist Church or Good Shepherd Hospice and sent in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
