Life Sketch for Sheila Ann Roach

Sheila Ann (Swartz) Roach, 64, died at her home in Peabody, Kansas on Monday, May 12th.  Sheila was born on September 14, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri to Lorenzo and Erma (Brown) Swartz Sr.

 

Sheila married Roger Newman in 1970 and he preceded her in death.  In 1996 she married Gary Lee Roach in Peabody, Kansas. He survives in the home.

 

Sheila was a very high spirited person who enjoyed fishing, golf, riding the “Gold Wing” and working in the yard. She and Gary loved vacations and traveled extensively in the western half of the United States. She was a good singer, sang in the church choir and a long term member of the Christian Church of Peabody.

 

She is survived by her husband: Gary Lee Roach; son: Jesse Lorenzo Newman and wife, Dawn; stepsons: Wally, Ronnie and Kenny Knackstedt; brothers: Gary, Larry, Jack, Louis, and Rick Swartz; sisters: Nelli Gilkey and Marsha Williams; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents: Lorenzo and Erma Swartz, Sr.; sister: Erma Miner; brother: Bill, Bob, and “JR” Swartz; son: Roger Dale Newman, Jr.

 

Funeral Services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M., Saturday, May 17th at the Peabody Christian Church.  A public visitation is scheduled from 5:00 to 9:00 on Friday, May 16th at Petersen Funeral Home.  A graveside committal will be held at Peabody Cemetery following the service.

 

A memorial has been set up St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Sheila struggled with cancer for many months until her death.  Her life touched many people and she will be remembered as a loving mother and someone who   was available to lend a hand to anyone in need. Petersenfamilyfuneralhome.com
