Shirley Ann Hinde

 

Shirley Hinde passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

 

Shirley was born on May 25, 1935 in Greenwich, Kansas to Harmon and Pauline (Meirs) Wygal.

 

Shirley married Marvin Hinde on November 12, 1950 in Salina, Kansas.  They were married for 67 years prior to her passing.

 

Shirley was a very kind and loving person whom had lots of friends and was known for her service to the church and her charity.  She was a member of the IOTA Pi Delta Theata Tau Sorority, Salem United Methodist Church where she was active in their Crusader Sunday School Class, Redbird Circle, Church Bazaar, and the serving of church and funeral meals.

 

She and Marvin had two children: Linda Kathleen Linnens and Russel “Rusty” Hinde. Linda passed away in a tragic automobile accident on December 30, 1998 which left a deep scar in their family.  Rusty and his wife, Glenna reside in the Greenwood, MO.  Shirley was survived by five grandchildren: Kelley Linnens, Amy Remington, Josh Ploeger, Nick Ploeger and Seth Hinde; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-laws. 

 

She was preceded in death by her daughter: Linda; brother: Sam Wygal; and sister: Kathleen Murphy                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 .

 

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the Salem United Methodist Church of Newton.  A public visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 4th at the Petersen Funeral Home.  The family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. to greet friends.  A graveside committal will be held in the afternoon at Cassoday Cemetery near Cassody, Kansas.

 

A memorial has been established for the American Diabetes Association,
