Stacy V. Morris, 78, died on June 2, 2023, at his home in Newton, Kansas.
He was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on August 16, 1944, the son of Stacy and Virginia (Lingering) Morris.
Stacy graduated from Sterling College with a bachelor’s degree in business. He then worked for the state of Kansas as a financial examiner.
Stacy joined the United States Navy where he served his country with distinction for over 20 years. His unwavering dedication to his duties earned him numerous commendations from his superiors and admiration from his fellow servicemen.
During his free time Stacy enjoyed admiring cars. He specifically loved cars that were made after the 1950’s and into the 1960’s. He also was very active in the local AA chapter. Recently Stacy celebrated 29 years sober. He lent his strength to many people and was known for lending a hand when needed.
Outside of work, Stacy was a devoted family man, always finding time for his wife Kathleen and their children, Stacy (Jennifer) Morris, Darcy Morris, Tonya Adams, Cara Adams, Kassandra Adams; grandchildren, Eric (Alex) Danks, Austin Danks, Christopher Hizey, Jacob Adams, Keith Morris, Jayleah Welch, Levi Morris, Nicholas Adams, and Benny Dossey.
Stacy was preceded in death by his parents, Stacy and Virginia Morris; and sisters, Vicky Lewis, Kay Miller and Jan Potter.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 9, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church with a graveside service following at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Stacy will lie in state the day prior on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
