Talia Ann Lois Karst Obituary

Talia Ann Lois Karst passed away September 3, 2017 at her residence in Asbury Park in Newton, Kansas.  She was born January 26, 1927 in Bazine, Kansas to George and Olinda (Nuss) Rein.  The Reins struggled through the dust bowl years and while Talia was a young girl her family left the farm and moved to Russell, Kansas.  She graduated from Russell High School in 1945 while working at Dawson’s Drug Store and later the Home State Bank.  Talia married Herb Karst January 16, 1949 and they were together until his death December 13, 2013.

In 1957 Herb’s job took them to Pratt, Kansas and in 1967 Newton, Kansas followed by Alice, Texas in 1971.  They returned to Newton owning and running their Lincoln Mercury Dealership together and Tally continued working at other Dealerships into her seventies.  Tally was always active in the church where she taught a preschool class for many years.  She enjoyed being called out of retirement a few years ago teaming up with a friend to teach children again.

She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Susan (Karst) Washburn.

Talia is survived by her sister Georgina (Rein) Wegele, brothers Allen Rein and Marlin Rein, son in law Pat Washburn, son’s Mike & Mary Karst and David & Patti Karst and grandson’s, Jacob, Max and Alex Karst.
