Terril (Terry) Lynn Eberhard passed away March 21, 2023, at the age of 75. Terry was born March 1, 1948, at Bethel Deaconess Hospital in Newton, Kansas. He was the only child of Charles and Neysa Eberhard.
Terry spent his childhood on a farm near Peabody, Kansas, where he attended kindergarten through 12th grade. He graduated in 1966 from Peabody High School. During his time in high school, Terry was an active member of the Future Farmers of America organization. He held several officer positions and was awarded the State Farmer Award, the highest honor given to FFA members. He was also successful in raising hogs and sheep, owning over 400 head of sheep at one time.
After high school, Terry attended Kansas State University. He graduated in 1970 with a degree in Agriculture Education. Terry then joined the National Guard and later transferred to the Army Reserves.
Terry started his career in banking, first working for the Land Bank in Ness City, and later for the Production Credit Association in El Dorado. After his father passed away, Terry retired from banking and returned to the farm, where he grew the size of the cattle and farming operation.
Terry was an active member of his community, serving eight years on the Peabody-Burns School Board and serving 37 years on the Doyle Valley Watershed District Board. He was a proud KSU alumnus and had season tickets for KSU football for many years.
Terry found joy in working in the field, fixing equipment, and harvesting crops. He loved spending time with family and friends over a cup of coffee or while driving his truck on the country roads of Marion County.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Neysa and Charles Eberhard. He is survived by his aunt, Betty Schelske of Gainesville, Florida, a number of cousins, other family members, Joseph Lopez and spouse Bailey, and his longtime canine companion, Sheba.
