Travis Michael ‘Stix’ Smith 41, passed away Tuesday December 15, 2020 from a car accident.
He was born November 15, 1979 to Richard Smith and Wilma Jean (Schultz) Decker in Newton, KS. Travis graduated Newton High School Class of 1998. He loved music and played guitar in several local bands. Travis was known for his love and talent with the microphone, he hosted multiple karaoke shows at numerous locations, He was the voice of the Newton Warrior/ Jr Railers football club for several years. All of those kids held a special place in his heart. Travis worked as a custodian for USD 373. He took great pride in his job and had a wonderful work family.
Travis’ greatest love was for his family. He married Nicole Drake on October 24, 2009. With that marriage Travis gained 4 children he very much loved as his own. He now had three grandsons and two more grandchildren on the way. Travis is survived by his wife Nicole, son Zackary Dauer of the home. Son, Dakota (Morgan Funk) Chard of Moundridge, Daughters Shelbie (Braeden Horn) Chard and Brianna Creekmore all of Newton. Grandsons Aiden, Caelub and Jensen. Grandmother Betty Smith of Newton, Father Richard Smith and Stepfather Tracy Decker both of Newton. Sisters Melissa (Pete) Roseberry of Newton and Tania (Daily) Jenson. Brother Justin Decker of Peabody, and several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Travis was preceded in death by his Mother Wilma Decker and sister in law Alicia Decker.
Travis was loved by so many and will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday December 22, 2020 at 3pm at Grace community Church in Newton. A visitation with Family will follow.
A memorial has been set up for Zackary Dauer college fund at White Eagle Credit Union. Please make checks payable to Zackary Dauer with Auxiliary Acct in the memo.
