Virginia Ann Holub

Virginia Ann Holub, 74, died on September 22, 2022, at Kansas Christian Home in Newton, Kansas.

 

She was born on August 24, 1948, in Sanger, Fresno County, California, the daughter of Charles and Tela (Pendergraft) Cornelius. She attended Newton High School, graduating with the class of 1968. She was protective of her younger sister Alice, and loved playing softball.

 

Virginia earned her C.N.A. certificate and over the next 21 years would work at Kansas Christian Home and Halstead Hospital.

 

On December 27, 1978 Virginia was united in marriage to Steve Holub in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The couple would have celebrated 44 wonderful years of marriage this December.

 

Virginia enjoyed rock and roll, especially Elvis, polka dancing , her grand-children, Indian history, and finding the best deals at garage sales and auctions.

 

Virginia was always there for others, she spent time as a companion to many on hospice. Many of her children’s friends called her Mom. She found ways to make others laugh, and had an amazing sense of humor. She was always willing to help anyone in need.

 

Virginia is survived by her husband, Steve Holub; daughters, Ruth Holub and Stephanie (Jeremy) Ashby; grandchildren, Heaven “Ezra” Holub, Trey Tucker, and Calder Ashby; and sister, Alice (Mike) Hovious; and many other dear family members and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Tela Cornelius  and infant sister, Marilyn Sue Cornelius.

 

A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Newton, Kansas. Visitation will be the evening prior, Wednesday, September 28, 2022, from 5 – 9 p.m., at Petersen Funeral Home, 215 North Main, Newton, Kansas with the rosary taking place at 6:00 p.m.

 

A memorial contribution in Virginia’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church for the Vincent De Paul charity or Harvey County Fire District #1

    Virginia will be missed by alot of people as she had a heart of gold. May She rest in Peace.
