Wanda Platt

Wanda S. Platt, 75, of Newton, was reunited in death to the love of her life on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Daddy picked Momma up for their final date that evening at 8:00 p.m.

Wanda Glass was born March 31, 1949 at Newton, Kansas to Alfred "Dale" and Myrtle (Scrivner) Glass. She married Clyde "Tony" Platt on November 12, 1965. The majority of their married life was spent raising their family in Newton. They were married for 56 years until his death in 2022. 

Wanda worked for Excel Industries for 29 years and retired as a Quality Control Inspector in 2005. She enjoyed playing softball and was an avid bowler. However, the most enjoyment in her life was found in the time spent with her family. She loved and cherished family above all else.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother Alex Glass, Son-In-Law Clinton "Tiger" Wilson and nephew James "Jimmy" Glass.

Wanda is survived by her children; Charlotte Wilson of Seminole, AL, Tony (Venita) Platt of Kamay, TX, Jodi (James) Runnells of Newton, KS, Lori (Dan) Shaffer of Dallas TX. Grandchildren; Christy Stargell (Jason Britt), Michael Wilson (Christi Wurth), Tory Runnells (Alex Piatt), Leslie Smith (Rich), Derick Platt (Erin Jones), Trey Runnells (Ashley Ihde). Great grandchildren; Jeremy, Kylee, Lacy, Adam, Elisha, Olivia, Tyler, Jonah, Leona, Logan, Blake, Jackson, Anton, Owen and Oliver. Brother Philip "Butch" Glass and sister Barbara (John) Raner, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be at Petersen Family Funeral Home, in Newton, on Wednesday, April 17, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Petersen Family Funeral Home. Burial will be at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton, Kansas following the service. The family welcomes those who would like to join them after the graveside at Acapulco restaurant. 

Memorial contributions can be made out to Good Shepherd Hospice and left in care of Petersen Family Funeral Home.
