William “Bill” Schwabauer

William “Bill” Schwabauer, 72, died on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Newton Medical Center.

 

Bill was born on February 28, 1942 in Gossel, Kansas to Henry and Bertha Ruth (Decker) Schwabauer. He attended Sedgwick and Newton schools and then later served in the U.S. Army in the early 1960’s.

 

Bill married Sandy Bacon on January 19, 1979 in Newton, Kansas. He and his wife loved animals, enjoyed bird watching, feeding wild animals and caring for their dogs.  Sandra and Bill were married for thirty four years prior to her death in November of 2014.

 

Bill was a retired truck driver and an avid fisherman and lover of old cars (especially 1956 Chevy).He drove truck for Farmers Oil for twenty two years, Hesston Corporation for twelve years and fuel transport for Wenger Oil

 

Bill was survived by his children: Brandon Bacon and wife, Susan; Steve Bacon and wife, Crystal; and John Bacon and wife, Jessica; grandchildren: Shannon Kalal, Jaxon Bacon, John Truesdell (J.T.) Bacon, Sydney Bacon, Kyndal Bacon, and Josie Bacon; great grandchild: Bella Kalal; brothers: Loren and Brad Schwabauer.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife: Sandra Schwabauer: parents: Henry and Bertha Ruth Schwabauer.

 

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel. There will not be a public visitation.  A graveside committal will be held at Greenwood Cemetery following the service.
